Accessibility Reports – Complies / Does Not Comply / Complies ANARP

Our fire engineering team is experiencing a consistent increase in the number of requests for Accessibility Reports for architectural design compliance with Section 112 of the Building Act 2004 and  NZS 4121:2001. This is occurring with alterations to existing buildings and latterly for new build work.

Requests for the service can often come following receipt of Council RFI’s, at which time all parties are experiencing a level of frustration and delay. Many of our clients are now obtaining our accessibility reporting service prior to application and including it with the building consent submission. This brings significant benefits to all those involved with the consenting process namely;

  • Removal or reduced accessibility RFI’s
  • Removal of possible delays in the consent approval process
  • Clear and easy information for regulatory staff to review and check off
  • Provision of independent professional ANARP (As Near As Reasonably Practical) assessment and justification

The process involves a site inspection, assessment of the architectural plans, compliance checking and report for use by the designer and or addition to the building consent document.
